Duterte MIA for 5 days and counting: Palace can’t say if June 19 Cabinet meeting will push through
Malacanang cannot confirm if the scheduled Cabinet meeting on June 19 will push through as rumors continue to swirl on the state of President Rodrigo Duterte’s health.
“No details but there’s a planned Cabinet meeting for next week. It’s not yet definite,” Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said at a press conference Friday (June 16).
Abella said Duterte may meet his Cabinet in either Manila or Davao, where he’s currently based.
Duterte usually meets his Cabinet on the first and third Monday of the month.
The President’s health has been the subject to speculation since he skipped the celebration of Independence Day rites at Luneta on June 12.
In a bid to allay concerns about Duterte’s health, the Palace released photos on Thursday (June 15) showing Duterte at Bahay Pagbabago and Villamor Airbase.
The photos were supposedly taken during the day.
Abella earlier said Duterte is taking a rest since he has had a “brutal” schedule over the past few weeks.
However, he was unable to say when Duterte will be seen again in public.
