Duterte mocks Sison’s swagger: Ang tapang magsalita, ni saranggola wala!
President Rodrigo Duterte has sneered at Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder Jose Maria Sison for speaking boldly against him and the government despite the communists’ weakening force.
In a speech before the Filipino community in Papua New Guinea Friday (November 16), Duterte said Sison’s bravado irk him.
“Itong komunista si Maria Sison, hambugero. Kaya napeste ako sabi ko ayaw ko nang makipag-usap sa iyo. Ang tapang-tapang magsalita wala namang eroplano, ni saranggola wala,” he said.
“Si Sison ano ang — helicopter? Wala ngang kabiling sapatos. Hambugero. Sige siya — kanya bangka, akin ang lalaki ng gray ships ko, warships ba,” he added.
Duterte said the military has refrained from using its aircraft to bomb suspected lairs of the New People’s Army because civilians may become collateral damage.
“Air Force meron ako, Navy meron ako. Bakit ako matakot sa inyo?” he said, addressing the communist movement.
Duterte has stopped peace talks with the communist movement because of its supposed lack of sincerity in the negotiations.
