Duterte mum on Jinggoy’s release: Tanungin mo Sandiganbayan!
President Rodrigo Duterte has chosen not to comment on the Sandiganbayan’s decision to grant bail to former senator Jinggoy Estrada for his plunder and graft cases in connection with the pork barrel scam.
Sought for comment on Estrada’s release from detention Monday (September 18), Duterte told reporters: “Tanungin mo ang Sandigan. Hindi ko teritoryo ‘yan.”
Estrada walked free from the Philippine National Police Custodial Center in Camp Crame on September 16 after posting a P1.3-million bail.
In its decision, the Sandiganbayan’s Special Fifth Division said there was no evidence that Estrada was the “main plunderer” in the pork barrel scam.
The former senator has insisted he never stole money from public coffers.
