Duterte to name another ex-general in Cabinet. Find out who
President Rodrigo Duterte will add another military officer in his Cabinet already brimming with ex-generals.
In a speech during his state visit to Saudi Arabia, Duterte said he would make former Armed Forces Chief of Staff Roy Cimatu a Cabinet member.
“Another Ilocano at magiging Cabinet member ko one of these days. I have to talk to him. Si… ito ‘yung pinapadala ng ating gobyerno noon, na particulary at the time ni President Gloria Arroyo, ‘yung may mga mass evacuation. Siya ‘yung inuutusan, si… general ito noon. General Roy Cimatu,” said Duterte.
Duterte was referring to Cimatu’s role as then Special Envoy to the Middle East in the evacuation of overseas Filipino workers during the Iraq war.
Among the former military and police officers in Duterte’s government are Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Chief Isidro Lapeña, Immigration Chief Jaime Morente, Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon, Land Transportation Office Chief Edgar Galvante, National Food Authority Administrator Jason Aquino, and Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office General Manager Alexander Balutan.
