The chief executive refused to reveal what was discussed at the Wednesday meeting with United States Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim in Malacanang.
After his command conference for typhoon “Ompong” in Camp Crame, President Rodrigo Duterte said on Thursday he needs Kim’s consent first before he could discuss their “diplomatic tete-a-tete.”
“No, I cannot discuss that until I get his permission,” said Dutete .
“[There was] nothing earthshaking but more of confidentiality. I hate to break the rules,” he added.
On Wednesday, Kim on Twitter said the meeting was “excellent” and zeroed in on “shared goals including defense priorities and economic partnership.”
The ambassador also assured “strong” and “ironclad” alliance with the Philippines.
