Where is Duterte? Palace mum on President’s whereabouts
Where is President Duterte?
Now on the 4th day of the New Year without any public appearance from President Duterte, Communications Sec. Jose Ruperto Martin Andanar and Presidential spokesman Undersecretary Ernesto Abella invoked “private time” when asked by members of the Malacanang Press Corps about the whereabouts of the chief executive.
Duterte has been “missing in action” since he led the commemoration of the death of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal last Dec. 30 and visited the victims of the explosion in Hilongos, Leyte last Friday.
“I think that’s private time,” Abella said when asked with whom the President spent his New Year.
Abella surmised that Duterte spent the new year “with family and friends”. “I don’t know. Family and friends” he said.
“ I am not entirely sure but I think he spent the latter part of the holidays here in Manila,” he said.
In various interviews last week, Duterte said he will be spending his New Year in Malacanang to assess the impact and damages of the typhoon Nina last Christmas Day—which has been pegged at P 5.183-billion in damages on agriculture and infrastructure.
