Duterte says NFA chief Jason Aquino asked to be relieved: ‘Di kami magkasundo
National Food Authority administrator Jason Aquino has asked to be relieved from his post, President Rodrigo Duterte said Tuesday (September 11).
In a televised interview with Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo, Duterte said Aquino told him he was already “tired.”
“Jason Aquino has requested he be relieved already. He says he is already tired, cannot cope,” he said.
Duterte hinted that he has also been at odds with Aquino.
“We cannot be in agreement all the time. I will scout for a new one,” he said.
Aquino’s relief comes amid soaring rice prices and tight supply of commercial rice in some areas in the country.
The NFA has also been criticized for importing rice with weevils or bukbok.
