“Kung walang order, huwag niyong pakialaman.”
This was President Rodrigo Duterte’s statement after Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has decided to remain under the custody of the Senate despite absence of arrest warrant against him.
On August 31, Duterte signed Proclamation No. 572 voiding the amnesty given to Trillanes in 2010 for his participation in the mutinies against the Arroyo administration.
The document cited the senator’s failure to apply for an amnesty and to admit his guilt.
Duterte stressed that the former Navy lieutenant will not be arrested by the military or police until the court issues an arrest warrant against him.
“Nobody is interested to arrest (him). The military does not have the interest. I don’t have the interest. He can stay there as a boarder,” the President said after presiding a command conference on typhoon Ompong the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council operations center in Camp Crame.
“Sabi ko (sa police) do not arrest until there is warrant of arrest by the court. Eh wala man ang military, it has not constituted the (court martial), so it’s only the civilian courts. Eh wala namang order. So kung walang order, wag nyong pakialaman,” he said.
