Duterte scores NPA for messing up peace talks: Ang dami kasing drama!
President Rodrigo Duterte has slammed the communist movement throwing a wrench into the peace process with their demands.
In a speech before members of the 1st mechanized infantry brigade in Sultan Kudarat Wednesday (June 7), Duterte said he wanted to pursue peace with Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) since he is a “President for peace.”
“Sa NPA, marami kasi silang drama. And, you know, every time that they make demands, it is as if they are the ones trying to bargain in a higher level, para sila tuloy ang tigas,” he said.
Serious about pursuing the peace talks, Duterte said he extended all goodwill he can to the communists, to no avail.
“But they all fouled it up. And to think na sila pa ang maghingi, na sila naman ngayon ang desperado makipag-usap,” he said.
The Philippine government suspended peace talks with the communist movement last month over the NDF’s order for the NPA to continue its offensive despite the declaration of martial law in Mindanao.
