Duterte thinks a lot of the Church’s teachings are stupid: If God created paradise, why ruin it with a snake and a China apple?

Nov 30, 2017 @ 10:55

President Rodrigo Duterte says he believes in God but not the stuff the Catholic Church teaches its flocks like saints and biblical tales.

“I just believe in God. Period. Wala na akong ibang kinikilala. Only one God, wala na ‘yung mga Santo Tomas, San Pedro, Santo Rodrigo, wala na ‘yan, Santo Alfredo, no more of that,” said Duterte.

“Hindi ako maniwala niyang Sen Pedro na ‘yan. Magdala ng manok sa langit? Tang ina, langit and other things which my religion does not fit with my senses,” he added.

Duterte said he found some of the Catholic beliefs as “stupid” like the Genesis tale of Adam and Eve and how they were baished from paradise for committing the original sin.

“If you relive Adam and Eve, you’ll look very stupid. Here is God creating Earth, Planet Earth, and He said, ‘It’s beautiful’. Since there was nobody there, He created man. And sabi niya, ‘Well, a man should have a partner’. Naturally, a woman. Ilagay niya diyan. Maganda na sana, then God created the snake,” he said.

“Anak ka ng — maganda na sana, nag-import pa ng apple sa China. Nilagay sa bunganga ng ahas. Tapos ito namang si satanas, itong putang inag ‘to, inutusan ‘yung ahas dalhin doon kay Eve. So kay Eve naman, kinain niya, pinakain niya si Adam. Then back to zero. So ganun, ano bang klase ‘yan?” he added.

Based on his logic, Duterte said that a God should be perfect therefore his creation should have no imperfections

“Bakit mo salihan ng ahas. Buti pa ibigay mo ‘yan sa China. Go. Eh lutuin ‘yan bukas,” said Duterte.

He said the original sin story reminds him of a Hong Kong restuarant which serves good snake dishes.

“Meron kilala kami diyan sa — We go there to eat snakes. Very good because you will look for an apple,” deadpanned Duterte.
