Duterte threatens Aguirre if Peter Lim, Kerwin Espinosa get away with drug raps: ‘Pag nakawala ‘yan siya ipapalit ko!
President Rodrigo Duterte is fuming over the dismissal of drug trading charges against Cebuano businessman Peter Lim and self confessed drug trader Kerwin Espinosa.
In a series of tweets posted Tuesday (March 13), Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque shared the threat Duterte addressed to Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II over the shocking development.
“Pag nakawala yan si Lim at Espinosa, sya ang ipapalit ko. I can review that dismissal order. Nag-amin na nga sa Congress! Why not admit it as evidence against him?,” Roque quoted the President as saying.
Duterte said he will invoke his supervision and control and order a review of the state prosecutors’ decision clearing Lim, Espinosa and 17 others of drug-related charges.
State prosecutors cited weak evidence as the reason for the dismissal of charges.
In response to Duterte’s order, Aguirre said he has ordered the creation of a new panel that will review the resolution on Lim’s case.
The panel, Aguirre added, will handle the motion for reconsideration that will be filed by the Philippine National Police.
