President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said he has not talked to his son, former Davao City vice mayor Paolo Duterte “for the longest time.”
Asked to confirm whether the younger Duterte will run for congressman or mayor, Duterte said, “I don’t know. Frankly, I have not talked to my son for the longest time, simula nag — well, he has his own family. Maybe he finds few opportunities for me to talk to him.”
He also said, “Alam mo naman ako. I commute Manila-Davao frequently. And only because my residence is here. That I have to con… Nagba-biyahe talaga ako dahil ang bahay ko nandito.”
Duterte said he is waiting for Paolo, who resigned as vice mayor of Davao City in December after being linked to the entry of P6.4 billion shabu shipment into the country, to talk to him about his political plans.
“Si Pulong naman, I expect him as a son to come to me and say, “Pa, gusto kong doon na tatakbo.” Kasi alam mo anak ko eh,” the chief executive said.
Earlier Mayor Sara Duterte confirmed that his brother will be running for Congress in the 2019 midterm election.
