Duterte uses Roxas as punchline in morbid joke to evade questions on 5-day absence
When he finally emerged from an unexplained five-day hibernation, President Rodrigo Duterte was naturally bombarded with questions on what he did or where he went while he went out of public sight starting on June 12.
In an interview in Butuan City last June 17, Duterte tried to answer truthfully by claiming he went on a visit but he refused to disclose where.
”The truth is I went out of town to — for a visit somewhere else… I cannot divulge it. I had to go there incognito. ‘Yun ang totoo. Confidential but I said I travelled like a private citizen para lang maka-abot doon sa gusto kong puntahan,” said Duterte.
When he sensed the reporters were stil anxious to get more from him, Duterte came up with this tall tale in which he cited his rival, former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, as a punch line.
Totoo. Dala ko isang escort lang eh,” he said.
“Paggising ko, I was horrified. Akala ko nasa MRI ako. It’s a very closed chamber. Then little did I realize na ‘yung taga-punerarya, nagkamali. ‘Yan ang gusto ninyo?” he added.
