Duterte warns corrupt gov’t officials: Basilan is waiting for you
President Rodrigo Duterte has threatened to send corrupt government officials to Basilan if they cannot refute the allegations against them.
In a speech before intelligence and security officials Tuesday (July 31), Duterte renewed his invitation for anyone to visit Malacañang and inform him of the wrongdoing allegedly committed by government officials.
He said he will invite the concerned government official to the Palace to talk.
“I will call PTV-4 to broadcast live our conversation and I would ask them, ‘Bakit ito nakalusot itong bumper na ito? Just give mee the paper. Eh saan ang pera nito, the corresponding payment,'” Duterte said.
The President said government officials who cannot produce proof of doing a transaction aboveboard will be sent to Basilan.
“If you cannot produce that, Basilan is waiting for you. Saluin mo na lang lahat ng IED doon araw-araw and that is also bothering me,” he said.
Duterte said he cannot go soft on his anti-corruption campaign because it was one of his campaign promises.
