Duterte’s best campaign advice to politikos: Get a lover in every village
President Rodrigo Duterte believes his playboy ways have served him well in his presidential campaign two years ago.
That is why he is advising politikos running in the 2019 senatorial elections to have as many lovers as they can, preferably spread out in vote-rich province in the country.
In a speech in Cebu, Duterte said he did not believe he could win the presidency not only because he was lagging behind in the pre-election surveys, he also did not have the backing of a national political party (Duterte used to describe his party, the Partido Demokratikong Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan, as moribund).
“Somebody told me, ‘mag-landslide ka’. But I didn’t believe it because we always go by surveys, even in Luzon. But what I can tell you is this: I don’t have money and I don’t have a leader even in Mindanao except for Zubiri of Bukidnon and a lady governor whom I can’t name because her husband might kill me. Let’s put it that way,” said Duterte.
She was referring to Agusan del Norte Maria Angelica Rosedell Amante-Matba whom he confessed took his heart during his younger days.
“So she (Amante-Matba) changed her bet for the presidency on the last minute. The reason wasn’t about a political party. It’s because of love,” he said.
“That is why the advice that I can give to other politicians and councilors is this: Do not live your life limiting yourself to loving one person only.Do it by batch so that many people will help you. And if it’s possible, do it in every village,” he said.
“It’s easy to find one. Just wait for them every Friday. Choose from the three colors of a ribbon: red, blue, yellow. Wherever it is, it’s okay, as long as you have a leader,” Duterte said in jest.
