Duterte’s frequent camp visits not loyalty checks, says Palace

There is no need to conduct a loyalty check on the military amid reports of an alleged Communist plot to oust President Rodrigo Duterte, Malacanang said.
“Well, ang problema kasi kung titingnan mo iyong ibang schedule ni Presidente from day 1, ikot nang ikot siya sa kampo,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. said in a press briefing Thursday.
The welfare of soldiers has always been Duterte’s priority, said Roque.
“So I wouldn’t say na ito talaga ay loyalty check. Talagang from the very beginning, prayoridad ng Presidente ang kapakanan ng mga sundalo, iyon na talaga ang polisiya niya since day 1 in office,” he added.
According to him, he does not see Duterte’s frequent visits to military camps as tantamount to loyalty check.
“It is just the President sending the message na importante ang kaniyang mga kasandaluhan at ito ay napapatunayan ng kaniyang walang tigil na pagbisita sa kanila,” Roque said.
