Epal alert! PCOO exec Lorraine Badoy uses PNA for motherhood statements on poverty
Communications Undersecretary Lorraine Badoy is apparently milking her position for self-promotion by making the Philippine News Agency (PNA) post what could best be described as motherhood statements on poverty.
PNA on October 19 posted an article titled, “PCOO exec cites DSWD as true ‘heart and soul’ of gov’t.” The story was centered on Badoy’s thoughts on poverty and the supposed maltreatment of poor people.
“Naiiyak ako sa kwento ng mga beneficiaries dahil sa kwento ng paghihirap. Napakalayo sa katotohanan,” she said in a forum, which the PNA covered for the story.
Badoy used to be an assistant secretary in the Department of Social Welfare and Development before she was appointed to the Presidential Communications Operations Office.
The story reeks of self promotion since Badoy was neither quoted as offering solutions to poverty nor assessing government’s performance in addressing the problem.
