Ex-senator Ed Angara back in gov’t as Duterte’s special envoy to EU
President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed former senator Edgardo Angara as his special envoy to the European Union.
According to a document released by Malacañang Wednesday (May 17), Angara’s appointment papers were signed on May 3. His designation will expire in September this year.
Duterte has slammed the EU several times over its criticism of the administration’s war on illegal drugs. He has cursed the union and its official over the issue, saying they should not impose their values on the Philippines.
The former lawmaker is the father of incumbent Senator Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara.
His last term in the Senate ended in 2013.
