Fariñas on Makabayan split: I accept their decision w/ heavy heart
House of Representatives Majority Floor Leader Rudy Fariñas told Makabayan bloc he respects and accepts their decision to leave the majority coalition with a heavy heart.
In a text message to ACT TEACHERS partylist Rep. Antonio Tinio, which Fariñas shared with reporters in a Viber thread, the House leader said:
“I respect and accept your decision with a heavy heart, of course. But as you know too well, I have good relations with even the independent 7 who sued the Speaker, Danny Suarez and I before the SC. Thanks and God bless, Tonchi!”
He was answering Tinio’s message, which read: “Manong, I just want to let you know before we announce to the media that Makabayan bloc has decided to leave the Majority to stand as an independent bloc. Despite this, we hope to maintain cordial relations with you and work with you on certain issues.”
There are now four groups in the House: the majority, the minority, the Magnificent Seven, and the Makabayan bloc.
