Ayaw na sa away! Duterte tells Marawi residents to focus on rebuilding city
President Rodrigo Duterte has called on residents of Marawi City to help in efforts to rebuild it after the six-month fighting between soldiers and terrorists.
“I’m appealing to you na medyo i-redirect lang ninyo ‘yung paradigm or the mindset and allow progress to take place. You will need the Christians as the Christians need the Muslim population,” Duterte told the residents Tuesdsy (January 30) in his visit to Marawi City.
Duterte said Marawi residents should aim to invite people of various faiths once the rehabilitation process is completed.
“‘Pag gumanda na ito, invite everybody, invite the Christians because they want to see Lake Lanao. Just provide them security,” he said.
Duterte assured the residents that the government will fund programs such as agricultural projects to move the city forward.
Task Force Bangon Marawi chairperson Eduardo Del Rosario earlier said that rehabilitation efforts for Marawi City will begin in April. The project is expected to be finished by 2021, he added.
