Fratman Marc Ventura to testify before senators next week
Marc Anthony Ventura, one of the suspects turned state witness in the hazing death of freshman law student Horacio “Atio” Castillo III, is set to testify before Senate probers in the resumption of the probe on Nov. 6.
Ventura’s testimony, where he narrated how his brothers in Aegis Juris took turns in beating up Castillo inside the fraternity library in Sampaloc, Manila in the wee hours of Sept. 17 and also identified all of the supposed participants, needs to be secured by the Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs, Sen. Panfilo Lacson said Friday.
“Para ma-incorporate formally sa records ng committee and testimony ni Ventura,” Lacson, committee chair, said.
All of the alleged suspects in the Castillo fatal hazing case will be called anew by the committee in the next hearing, which the senator said would likely be the last one, possibly to wrap the inquiry.
“Yes, all of them (will be called). We’re also inviting Justice Sec. (Vitaliano) Aguirre (II) or (acting) Prosecutor General (Jorge) Catalan,” he said.
