Friend lang pala: Roque shocked at being dropped like a hot potato by PDP-Laban
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque was thankful he took oath as a member of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) because he just found out he’s not part of PDP-Laban’s roster.
Roque on Friday (August 17) expressed surprise that he was only labeled as PDP-Laban’s “friend” in the letter written by party president Senator Aquilino Pimentel III to the Palace on the administration’s possible senatorial bets for 2019.
In a radio interview, Roque said Presidential Adviser on Political Affairs Francis Tolentino and Special Assistant to the President Bong Go were considered as PDP-Laban members while he was left out.
“Well, medyo nagtataka po ako, kasi ang sinasabi po namin dati ‘no, at least iyong tatlong kalihim po – ako, si Senator Francis Tolentino at saka si Senator Bong Go. Kung sinasabi lang naman namin ‘kung’ kami ay tatakbo, eh tatakbo sa PDP Laban in coalition with Hugpong,” he said in a radio interview.
Roque, however, said he has found a party in HNP.
“Nagagalak naman ako na two weeks ago, eh nanumpa na nga ako doon sa partido ng Hugpong Pagbabago, kay Mayor Sara. So at least ngayon meron akong partido ano, even if I am classified as friend of the PDP,” he said.
Pimentel wrote President Rodrigo Duterte to seek his opinion for PDP-Laban’s senatorial slate before the filing of certificates of candidacy in October.
