Gordon promises probe on Andy Bautista’s ill-gotten wealth will not be a TV drama: No need for hankies
If you expect the Senate investigation into the alleged P1 billion ill-gotten wealth of Commission on Elections Chairman Andy Bautista will be a “telenovela”, you’ll be disappointed.
Senator Dick Gordon said he would not allow any concerned party to turn the investigation into Bautista’s ill-gotten wealth into a drama spectacle even if it has all the elements of a soap opera.
“Di kami mag-iimbistiga para hiyain sila at para pahirapan ‘yung pamilya. Di kasalanan ‘nung mga anak ‘yung pagkakasala ng magulang,” he said.
“Pipigilan ko pag-piyestahan ang away nila o kaliwaan nila kung meron man,” the senator said in a radio interview.
He added, “Ang iimbistigahan ko, ano ba talaga ang ginawa mong mali sa batas.”
Gordon, chair of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, on Saturday said he would soon schedule the probe.
Senator Tito Sotto earlier asked the Blue Ribbon panel to investigate the allegation of Bautista’s estranged wife, Patricia, that he keeps over P1 billion in hidden wealth.
