Gordon’s report on drug smuggling meant to clear Duterte of wrongdoing — Trillanes
Senator Sonny Trillanes is not impressed with the draft committee report of Sen. Dick Gordon summarizing the result of the Senate investigation on the smuggling of P6.4 billion shabu from China.
One of the highlights of Gordon’s report is the recommendation to conduct lifestyle check on Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte and his brother-in-law Mans Carpio.
But he did not include them in the list of individuals that must be charged for alleged involvement in the smuggling of 604 kilos of shabu.
“Suspected drug pushers and users are wantonly killed in the streets while the people behind the illegal drug smuggling are merely subjected to a lifestyle check,” Trillanes said.
“This is a clear case of a cover up by Senator Gordon to please his political master,” the opposition senator said.
Trillanes said that if Gordon is really serious in getting to the bottom of this mess, “then he shouldn’t terminate the hearing and clear Paolo Duterte of involvement until Nanie Cabato-Coronacion a.k.a. Tita Nanie is located.”
