Palace assures gov’t working to bring inflation down: Ramdam namin ang hirap

To tame the rising inflation, Malacañang has reaffirmed its strong commitment to ensuring that prices of basic goods and services would soon stabilize.
“Alam namin na ramdam ng ating mga kababayan ang pagtaas ng presyo ng bilihin kaya naman po gumawa na ng mga hakbang ang pamahalaan para matugunan ito,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. said.
Roque made the statement following the rise in consumer prices from 6.4 percent in August to 6.7 in September.
“President Duterte signed Administrative Order No. 13 last month to streamline procedures on the importation of agricultural products, including rice. This will lower the price of basic food products for Filipino consumers since certain administrative requirements unduly add to the cost of importation and limit food supply,” he said.
Roque also said three memorandum orders were signed “to stabilize prices of basic agricultural commodities at reasonable levels, maintain their sufficient supply in the domestic market, and provide effective and sufficient protection to consumers against hoarding, profiteering, and cartels with respect to the supply, distribution, marketing, and pricing of said goods.”
Through these measures, the Filipino people are assured that inflation will be well contained the soonest time possible, he said.
