Gustong kumita? PIA claims 65M Facebook reach but dangles P4M contract for social media management
Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson’s allies are digging up dirt on Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Director General Harold Clavite after he urged her to take a leave of absence for sharing a racy video on federalism.
And find dirt blogger Sass Sasot did— in the form of a questionable invitation for social media management and placement.
Sasot recently shared PIA’s request for companies to consider bidding for a P4-million contract for social media management and placement.
Interested companies should have at least five years experience in implementing social media management strategies.
The companies’ expertise should include online multimedia production, content planning, digital analysis and social media strategizing.
Now for the shady part: The PIA claimed in its 2017 Achievement Report that its Facebook pages have an average reach of 65 million as of December last year.
Sasot wondered why the PIA would look for a company to handle its social media strategy when it claimed to have a 65-million reach.
“Bakit maghahanap ang PIA ng company for a potential reach of 20 million sa FB kung ang mga PIA FB Pages, as PIA claimed, have an AVERAGE REACH OF 65 MILLION? Why does PIA need to pay a company 4 million for a 20 million reach, when PIA can reach six times that on average FOR FREE?!” she asked.
In another post, Sasot noted that Uson and Communications Director Pebbles Duque are already in charge of the government’s social media strategies so PIA no longer needs outside help.
