Guv accuses mayor of killing potential 2016 rival
Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. claimed that politics was behind the assassination of Provincial Board Member Renato Malabor and his bodyguard.
Maranon said that police task force investigating the case should invite Isabela Mayor Enrique Montilla III for questioning.
Maranon said he already warned Malabor to watch his back after declaring his intention to run for Isabela mayor in 2016.
In a report by Rappler.com, Maranon said: “We will name names if there’s already evidence.”
Montilla shot back at Maranon to be more specific to which the Governor replied: “That is already very specific. What more?”
Malabor and Montilla used to be political allies under Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) until the dead politiko switched to to Maranon’s United Negros Alliance.
