Harry Roque running for partylist seat?

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. is reportedly sending feelers to Kabalikat ng Mamamayan (Kabayan) Partylist, intending to become its nominee in next year’s polls.
“We were not surprised on receiving a feeler through a member of our Board on the desire of former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque to be a nominee of Kabayan Partylist in the 2019 elections. We also note his intent that a certain Jesse Hermogenes Andres also become a nominee,” Kabayan Partylist said in a statement on Thursday.
Kabayan said that Roque is no longer a member of the group following his removal as its member and partylist representative in January 2017.
Andres, they added, is also not a member of the party-list group
“We are quite pleased that Mr. Roque considers the value of Kabayan Partylist, even at this very late hour… Messrs. Roque and Andres should have applied first as members of the Kabayan Partylist,” their statement read.
“After all, their names were nominated to our Selection Committee in response to our call for nominees. And since they are not bonafide members of the KABAYAN Partylist, their nominations were not considered,” the group representing marginalized sectors said.
According to them, their five nominees for the midterm elections are Representatives Ron Salo and Paul Hernandez; former director of the Environmental Management Bureau Peter Anthony Abaya, Kabayan Action Group President Noemie Bustamante, and Kabayan Partylist consultant Jennis Nidea.
“Nonetheless, we fully support Mr. Roque’s dream of becoming a Senator, and Kabayan Partylist wishes him all the best, should he file his Certificate of Candidacy. In the meantime, true to its promise, Kabayan Partylist continues the active pursuit of its core advocacies of KAlusugan, paBAhay, kabuhaYAN, Edukasyon, and OFW (Kabayan + 2),” the group concluded.
