The heat is on Robredo: Disbarment na, impeachment pa
Vice President Leni Robredo has found herself in a major pinch as she not only faces possible disbarment , but also an impeachment complaint.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has backed potential moves to impeach Robredo, who has been accused of hatching destabilization efforts against President Rodrigo Duterte.
“I think she is guilty of betrayal of public trust, an impeachable offense,” Aguirre reckoned.
Earlier, House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez said he is mulling the filing of an impeachment complaint against Robredo, an administration critic.
“I’m still studying it. Maybe the angle of betrayal of public trust,” Alvarez was quoted as saying last week.
Meanwhile, Volunteers Against Crime and Corrpution (VACC) chairman Dante Jimenez is threatening to file a disbarment case against Robredo before the Supreme Court (SC).
“VACC lawyers are studying the disbarment raps,” said Jimenez.
