Malacañang couldn’t help but beam with pride over the results of Pulse Asia’s latest nationwide survey showing President Rodrigo Duterte is still the most approved and trusted government official today.

Presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella on Friday (October 13) said Duterte posted a 80-percent trust and approval rating “despite the multifaceted political noise.

It should also be noted that Duterte’s high ratings came at “at the height of the demolition job” against him and his family, Abella added.

Pulse Asia said among the events which dominated the headlines during the survey period of September 24 to 30 were the Senate investigation into the P6.4-billion shabu shipment from China, the sacking of the Caloocan police force following the death of youngsters Carl Angelo Arnaiz and Reynaldo de Guzman, the commemoration of the 45th anniversary of the proclamation of martial law, and Duterte’s threat to investigate the Office of the Ombudsman after it was announced that the anti-graft body was looking into his wealth.

Abella expressed hope that the survey results inspire those in government to continue providing a comfortable life for Filipinos in a drug- and crime-free environment.

“This is the way we return the overwhelming confidence and trust bestowed by our people on the President,” he said.
