Hindi kayo magpapakasal! Ateneo advises senior HS students against grandiose ‘promposals’
Officials of the Ateneo de Manila University have reminded senior high school students to keep their “promposals” — or invitation to go to the prom— simple even if grand gestures have become the commonplace.
The Ateneo Senior High School (ASHS) Sanggunian or student council posted on its Facebook page Tuesday (January 2) a reminder from the Office of Student Affairs, ACO and Office of the Associate Principal for Student Affairs and Formation in light of the upcoming prom and ball season.
“As the Prom and the Ball Seasons are approaching, the ACO, OSA and the Office of the APSAF would like to remind everyone to practice the Ignatian value of simplicity when inviting their Prom or Ball partners,” the post read.
“Sincere and modest means of asking a partner to attend the event with you is preferred over expensive and grandiose proposals,” it added.
School officials reminded students against carrying out their “promposals” or “ballposals” during school hours so there will be no disruption of classes.
“Remember, you’re not getting married, just asking a friend to join you on your prom or ball. Thank you very much!” they said.
ASHS has been a co-ed institution since 2016.
