In full force! Cabinet Secretaries travel to Cagayan to brief Duterte on Ompong
President Rodrigo Duterte ordered all Cabinet members to travel to Cagayan Sunday (September 16) to show he’s in control in the aftermath of Typhoon Ompong.
A video posted Tourism Secretary Berna Romulo Puyat on Instagram showed several Cabinet members seated around Duterte as they held a briefing at the Cagayan Provincial Capitol in Tuguegarao City.
Among the Cabinet members present were Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez, Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia, Information and Communications Technology acting Secretary Eliseo Rio Jr., Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and Education Secretary Leonor Briones.
Cagayan was among the provinces badly hit by Typhoon Ompong, the strongest typhoon to hit the country so far this year.
Malacañang earlier said Duterte will inspect the areas badly hit by the typhoon as soon as the weather is good for air travel.
The President is set to visit Benguet, where at least 33 people are confirmed dead, on Monday (September 17).
