In the know: Robredo gets top-level military briefing on China missile crisis
The situation at the West Philippine Sea (WPS) and other national security issues were taken up at the one-hour military briefing for Vice President Leni Robredo on Tuesday, May 8 .
The security briefing was held at the General Headquarters of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City with top-level military and defense officials.
“Vice President Robredo is entitled to a military briefing as the next in line,” a two-star general who was at the meeting, told Politiko.
The security briefing for the vice president came as Filipino and US soldiers engage in annual military drills off the waters of Zambales facing the West Philippine Seas (WPS). About 8,000 troops are participating in Balikatan 2018.
Robredo has called for a “more decisive bet” in dealing with China’s military build-up in three reefs at the Spratly Islands . An international court has ruled the Spratlys as part of the Philippine territory.
