Is Mar running? LP adds 5 new names to senatorial slate
The Liberal Party (LP) continues to beef up its roster of senatorial candidates as the period for filing certificates of candidacy nears.
Politiko has learned that five new names have been added to the list of personalities that LP will endorse in the 2019 elections.
The latest additions to LP’s senatorial slate are: abogados Florin Hilbay and Romulo Macalintal, former Bangsamoro Transition Commission member Samira Gutoc and singer Leah Navarro.
Former senator Mar Roxas was also included in LP’s list of senatorial candidates though he remains unsure about returning to the Senate.
The five prospective bets are joining the three politikos earlier announced by LP as part of its senatorial slate: re-electionist Senator Paolo Benigno “Bam” Aquino IV, human rights lawyer Jose Manuel “Chel” Diokno and former Quezon congressman Lorenzo “Erin” Tañada III.
With only a few days left before the filing of COCs begins on October 11, it remains uncertain whether LP will complete a 12-person senatorial slate or they will endorse less than dozen politikos for senator.
