Jinggoy gets medical furlough
Former Senator Jinggot Ejercito Estrada has been allowed by the Sandiganbayan Fifth Division for a three-day furlough so he can undergo a medical procedure at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center.
The anti-graft court has issued a resolution which gave Estrada furlough from July 27 to 29 so he have a videocolonoscopy.
In his motion, Estrada informed the court he has been suffering from abdominal pains as well as bowel problems.
The cited he underwent blood test last July 12 and his physician, Dr. Regina L. Bagsic, informed him he has elevated levels of carcinoembryonic antigen and, because of this, he was advised to undergo a videocolonoscopy.
Estrada, who is currently detained at the Custodial Center of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame, is facing plunder and 11 counts of graft in connection with the pork barrel scam.
Under the charges, Estrada is accused of having received from 2004 to 2012 kickbacks amounting to P183.793 million from alleged pork barrel scam queen Janet Lim Napoles by coursing his Priority Development Assistance Fund through bogus non-government organizations.
