Justice will be served: Carpio prods authorities to probe Cam Sur judge’s death
Acting Supreme Court (SC) Chief Justice Antonio Carpio on Wednesday (June 13) has called on authorities to ensure that justice will be served against the killer of Metropolitan Circuit Trial Court (MCTC) Presiding Judge Ricky Begino.
Carpio made the call following Begino’s death on June 12 while on his way home in Barangay Sta. Maria, Camarines Sur.
“He extends his condolences to Judge Begino’s bereaved family and calls on the authorities concerned to take all necessary steps with all deliberate speed to do justice for Judge Begino by fully investigating his killing,” Carpio said in a statement.
The acting chief magistrate said he “condemns in the strongest terms the killing of Honorable Presiding Judge Ricky Begino.”
Meanwhile, police has already arrested the suspect who is identified as Wilfredo Armea, 72, who happens to be a neighbor of Begino.
Begino who got shot in the nape was still rushed to the hospital but eventually passed away.
