JV Ejercito stands firm against political dynasty: Two Estradas not good for Senate
Senator JV Ejercito on Saturday said he would pursue his anti-political dynasty advocacy come 2019 mid-term elections even if it would cost his re-election bid.
JV made the remark amid a report that his father, Manila Mayor Joseph “Erap” Estrada might field his half-brother, Jinggoy Estrada, as Pwersa ng Masa’s senatorial candidate in 2019.
Erap already gave his blessings to JV to transfer to the ruling PDP-Laban party.
But JV said he would rather abandon his plan to seek re-election to give way to Jinggoy.
“Hindi dahil nagkaalitan kami ng kapatid ko, I still stand with my anti-political dynasty provision,” Ejercito said.
“At naniniwala ako lalo na Senado 24 (miyembro) lang ‘yan tapos may dalawang miyembro ng pamilya (na magiging kasapi kung sakali),” he said.
He added, “100 milyon ang Pilipino. Para sa akin marami ang may kakayanan din. Walang dapat mag-monopolyo ng kapangyarihan.”
“Kung talagang tutuloy ang kapatid ko, malamang hindi na lang ako tatakbo dahil sa prinsipyo, dahil ayokong sabihin ng tao na minomonopolyo namin ang Senado. Hindi ako papayag na dalawa kaming tatakbo,” Ejercito added.
