Kagagawan lang ng mga ka-DDS? Villarin casts doubt on TIME poll results
Was President Rodrigo Duterte’s topping of the 2017 TIME 100 “Most Influential People” survey simply the handiwork of his multitude of online trolls and supporters?
Such is insinuation of Akbayan Party-list Rep. Tom Villarin, an opposition politiko.
“Now that even reputable media institutions are being either hijacked or attacked by populist leaders and their online supporters, I think we should take what we see online with more than a grain, if not bags of salt,” he said in reaction to Duterte’s no.1 rank following the close of TIME’s online poll Sunday (April 16).
“‘Influential’ nowadays connote more negativity over positivity,” Villarin added.
Duterte received 5 percent of the total “yes” votes in the annual poll. He beat the likes of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Pope Francis, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg, who each garnered 3 percent.
Duterte’s keyboard warriors–known as DDS or Duterte Die-hard Supporters–have a reputation of being efficient, as evidenced by the execution of their roles during the 2016 campaign period and under the politiko’s eventual presidency.
