Kampi kasi sa Smart, Globe: Lawmaker wants DICT’s Rio, NTC’s Cordoba out
ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro wants the top honchos of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) out for supposedly delaying the entry of the third telco player into the country.
Castro told Abante that NTC Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba appears to have done nothing to prompt Globe Telecoms and Smart to improve their services despite being in his post since 2009.
“Tama na, tanggalin na sa NTC si Cordoba. Inutil din dahil di ma-regulate at mapaayos ang service ng Globe at Smart. Inefficient rin,” she said.
DICT officer in charge Eliseo Rio appears to be no better.
“Si Rio, mukhang wala ring kakayahan, kapasidad mamuno sa DICT,” Castro said.
Rio asked Duterte to move the entry of the third telco to May but it was thumbed down by the President at the Cabinet meeting last week.
Duterte asked China Telecom to be the third telco player in the country in a bid to raise the level of competition and provide better services to customers.
