Kapit lang, Noy! De Lima empathizes with former boss

Jul 17, 2017 @ 17:07

BEING president is a “thankless job.”

Detained Sen. Leila de Lima empathized with former president Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino after the Ombudsman ordered the filing of charges against him for his alleged involvement in the botched mission to arrest a Malaysian and Filipino terrorists in Mamasapano, Maguindanao in January 2015.

The mission also known as “Oplan Exodus” led to the ambush of two teams of Special Action Force (SAF) troopers by Muslim rebels which left 44 police commandos dead.

“To hold the lives of millions in one’s hands is not an easy job, and I know that he was never one to treat lightly, much less with hubris, the task of sending his people out to risk their lives,” De Lima said.

The senator believes that Aquino “valued and respected human lives too much for that, so I know that the outcome of the Mamasapano incident was, for him, quite difficult and painful in many ways.”

“I pray for PNoy (Aquino) to have the strength and faith to see him through these trying times,” said De Lima, detained at the Phil. National Police Custodial Center on drug charges.
