Koko covers up for Roque, Bong Go’s lies about Duterte’s health: ‘Di talaga nila alam
No Malacanang official “lied” about the health condition of President Rodrigo Duterte.
Senator Koko Pimentel stressed this on Friday after Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque and Special Assistant to the President Bong Go drew flak from netizens supposedly for lying about Duterte’s health condition.
Roque and Go denied reports that the President went to see a doctor early this week.
But Duterte himself admitted on Thursday that he went to the Cardinal Santos Medical Center to have a check-up.
Sought to comment on allegations that Roque and Go lied about Duterte’s health, Pimentel said. “Sec. Roque didn’t know about it, hence, he didn’t at all lie.”
“Bong had to keep quiet about it unless and until the President orders that it be made public. Hence, no one lied,” he said.
“The President’s state of health must be made known to the public ‘if’ there is some serious medical matter to worry about,” said Pimentel.
He added, “But if routine check up Lang o diarrhea lang then why even announce it?”
Senator Win Gatchalian appealed to the public not to speculate and instead wait for the results of the President’s check up.
“The President has been transparent sa sinabi niyang nag-pa testing siya at pumunta siya sa hospital at nagpatingin siya sa doctor. Let’s wait for the results,” he said.
Pressed whether there is a need to publicize Duterte’s medical report, Gatchalian said, “First of all, we hope the best for the President. Alam natin na marami siyang ginagawa para sa bansa natin.”
“And despite the many problems of our country is facing, he is doing his best,” the senator from Valenzuela said.
“I would really advise to wait for the results to come out dahil sinabi na ni Presidente ang pagpunta niya doon (sa hospolital). And susunod diyan ay ang resulta ng pagpunta niya doon,” he said.
He added, “Mahirap mag speculate lalo na pagdating sa health (ni Presidente) dahil mga espesyalista lang ang p’wede magsabi kung ano ang talagang kalagayan ni Presidente.”
