Korina gets heat for ‘insensitive’ comments
ABS-CBN veteran news anchor Korina Sanchez is receiving online heat for her supposed ‘insensitive’ comments last week as super typhoon “Ruby” threatened to make landfall in the calamity-weary Philippines.
In the December 3 broadcast of ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol, Korina said Filipinos could help drive away Ruby through prayer but flirted with controversy when she hoped that the typhoon would exclusively hit Japan instead. Her comments are as follows:
This sparked outrage among netizens, who called Sanchez unethical and unprofessional.
In his twitter account, Felix Pua Goling Jr. said: “If Korina Sanchez becomes the first lady of the Philippines, that would be an increase exponentiallly in her stupidity. we are sorry Japan.”
“Korina Sanchez is the most UNprofessional journalist/anchor ever,” said another twitter user in Maria Larazabal (@mikeecolaa)
Korina, the wife of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas, figured in another controversy last year when she hurled negative comments about CNN news anchor Anderson Cooper’s coverage on the Yolanda disaster.
