Korina Sanchez: If Duterte is cocksure of Mabilog’s drug links, why does not he charge him in court?
Broadcaster Korina Sanchez has questioned President Rodrigo Duterte’s repeated criticism of Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog over his alleged links to the illegal drug trade.
In her September 1 column for Bulgar, Sanchez said Duterte appears to be conditioning the public’s mind about Mabilog’s supposed drug links by claiming he lives in a “palace”-like house warning him to stop protecting those engaged in the narcotics trade.
Sanchez said the President further fueled speculation about Mabilog’s supposed drug ties by assigning Ozamiz City police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido to Iloilo.
Espenido was the police chief in Albuera, Leyte and Ozamiz City when suspected narco-mayors Rolando Espinosa Sr. and Reynaldo Parojinog Sr., respectively, died in law enforcement operations.
