The “wang wang”culture or the inclination to use sirens on the road for non-emergency reasons has apparently returned, broadcaster Korina Sanchez said.
In her June 11 column for Pilipino Star Ngayon, Sanchez called the Metro Manila Development Authority’s attention to personalities who use sirens and bodyguards to reach their destinations immediately.
Former President Benigno Aquino III was known for foregoing the use of sirens on the road.
In his inaugural address, Aquino instituted a “no wang-wang” policy for personalities who were not allowed by law to use blaring sirens.
To walk his talk, Aquino said he will not use sirens on the road even if it meant being late.
