Kulang sa tao: Aguirre says PDEA can’t wage drug war alone
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II said the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) can’t wage war against illegal drugs alone.
“Undermanned nga sila,” admitted Aguirre.
In the hopes of silencing his critics, President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the PDEA to be the lead agency in the drug war with the other agencies including the Philippine National Police (PNP) taking a back seat.
On the other hand, Aguirre believes the President knows about PDEA’s lack of personnel and has expressed confidence Duterte will solve this.
“I’m sure the President will look or looked into the problem and will come out with a palliative,” Aguirre said.
In the meantime, the Secretary is looking into ways how the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) can assist the PDEA.
“I will check up to what extent, if allowed, could we participate in this war against illegal drugs,” he said.
