Lagot ang kurakot! Duterte to focus on erring local politikos- Palace
President Rodrigo Duterte will turn his sights on corrupt local politikos after firing a slew of appointed officials in the executive branch, Malacañang said Tuesday (January 9).
Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte discussed developments regarding efforts to reform the government during the Cabinet meeting on Monday (January 8).
“The President stated that he will continue with the process of cleansing the bureaucracy and that he will now turn more of his attention to local government units including the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao,” he said.
Roque said there was no complaint that prompted the President to crack down on erring local politikos.
Duterte fired two officials in the executive branch in a span of one month for traveling excessively. These were Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor chairperson Terry Ridon and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Marcial Amaro III.
