Leah Navarro hits senators for condemning impunity after motoring tycoon’s death: Ba’t tahimik kayo kay Kian?
Singer and activist Leah Navarro has blasted senators in the majority bloc for condemning impunity during the Duterte administration only after the death of United Auctioneers Inc. (UAI) owner Dominic Sytin.
Navarro said in a tweet that the senators only spoke out about impunity because their friend was killed.
“The #EJK style murder of a high profile businessman caused the senate majority to finally speak out against impunity because he was their friend. That’s what it took,” she said.
“They didn’t know Kian Delos Santos and others, so they kept their traps shut,” Navarro added.
Sytin, 51, was killed by an unidentified gunman outside the hotel he was staying in Subic on November 28. He immediately died from gunshot wounds.
Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri said he and other majority senators were devastated and shocked over Sytin’s death because he was a “very, very good friend.”
Zubiri said the other senators who joined him in condemning Sytin’s death were Panfilo Lacson, Joel Villanueva, Richard Gordon, Gringo Honasan, and Loren Legarda.
He said they are set to file a resolution soon urging authorities to catch Sytin’s killers as soon as possible.
