At least napapansin! Andanar turns defensive over PNA’s blunders
As the old adage goes, “Bad publicity is still publicity.”
Communications Secretary Martin Andanar is looking at the glass half-full with regard to the blunders involving the Philippine News Agency.
Facing lawmakers Tuesday (August 15) to defend the Presidential Communications Operations Office’s budget for 2018, Andanar said PNA enjoys a wider readership now than before.
“Naglabasan ang kapalpakan at napansin ng madla. Bakit napansin ng madla ang kapalpakan? Sapagkat binabasa na ang PNA ngayon,” he said.
The PNA drew flak last week for posting an opinion piece by the Chinese state-run Xinhua News Agency calling the arbitral ruling on the South China Sea an “ill-founded award.”
On August 11, the website used a photo of DOLE Food Company for a story on py rules issued by the Department of Labor and Employment.
Andanar has created an editorial board headed by him to prevent the PNA from committing the same mistakes it did.
