Legarda files candidacy for Antique congresswoman

Senator Loren Legarda on Wednesday made a last-minute filing of her candidacy for district legislator of her home province of Antique in the 2019 elections.
Legarda’s lawyer, Rhodora Cadiao, filed the certificate of candidacy (COC) in behalf of Legarda at COMELEC Provicial Office in the town of San Jose de Buenavista.
The two-term senator is currently at The Hague in Netherlands after being named as one of the new commissioners in the United Nation’s Global Commission on Adaptation.
Legarda will run as legislator in Antique’s lone district under Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC).
A Politiko report earlier disclosed that Legarda might drop her congressional bid in Antique and instead will run as nominee of Luntiang Pilipinas Partylist but the former broadcast journalist decided to proceed with her original plan on Wednesday morning.
Legarda will face former Gov. Exequiel “Boy Ex” Javier.
