Lodi! Steven Seagal praises Duterte for ‘impressive’ handling of terrorism, drug crisis
Hollywood action star Steven Seagal is impressed by the way President Rodrigo Duterte is running the country, particularly his fight against terrorism and illegal drugs.
Speaking with Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson, Seagal said he found Duterte to be a “very candid guy” when they met each other in Malacañang on October 12.
“What I like about him is I don’t look at him as a politician. I look at him as a very direct, sincere person who cares about his country,” he said in the interview, which was posted on Uson’s Facebook page.
Aware of “propaganda and politics,” Seagal said he reserved his judgment about Duterte until “I did more investigating and got to know him.”
“As I said earlier, that what he’s done for the country is wonderful,” he said.
“I think that, you know, he had a tremendous problem. He’s lost a lot of soldiers and a lot of police officers to terrorism and narco-terrorism and he has dealt with it in a very impressive way,” Seagal added.
It was former Ilocos Sur governor Luis “Chavit” Singson who paved the way for Seagal to meet Duterte.
The Hollywood star has chosen the Philippines as the shooting location of his movie, “Attrition,” which would revolve around crime and illegal drugs.
He will also shoot a 12-episode television series titled “General Commander” in the country.
